The Project: Gift Shop Palacio de Congresos Toledo
This is a clear example of global concept design, in which we have dealt with the kiosk architecture, the interior design of the store, the brand identity and all the graphic design for the merchandise that is sold inside, as well as the packaging of the product and the subsequent work of visual merchandising of the exposed product.
The challenges of the project
The first challenge of the project was to create a dialogue between our design and the architectural space of the Palacio de Congresos, designed by Rafael Moneo.
The design of the space that we proposed for the Gift Shop was a structure of small dimensions with a certain ephemeral connotation since it is definitely a kiosk.
Another integrating aspect was the choice of wood to cover the exterior, which apart from issuing a strong message of respect for historical references to the city, would make the space integrate perfectly with the colors of its surroundings.
For the interior design we created a completely wooden interior, with innovative exhibition systems designed by Up To You Studio.
The floor and all its furniture, were all completely custom, built with the same wood that was used for the exterior. This created a space that was very light and natural, with a feeling of being at home outside on the street.
Global concept design
Since it was a global concept design project, Up To You Studio was also responsible for the design of the corporate image. We designed the logo, taking into account the close relationship that the Gift Shop has with the Palacio de Congresos de Toledo.
Once this initial creative process had been defined, we carried out an art direction work, selecting a total of 175 different product references and creating hundreds of new merchandising references such as postcards, posters, t-shirts, key chains, bags and other products containing the graphic design.
